2011 Summer Program

2011 marks the 25th Anniversary of Kids To The Country.
Over this time about 5,000 disadvantaged city children
have participated
in this “peace and nature school.”

The Swimming Hole
One of the most popular activities of the KTC summer program.
This activity creates a special bond between the KTC kids and counselors. Children receive swimming lessons and can graduate from roped off areas to greater privileges after passing a proficiency test.

Arts and Crafts
Children enjoy hands-on craft making, producing gifts for family and friends
as well as souvenirs of their experience.

Horseback Riding
Many of the children are encountering a large animal for the first time.
This connection builds confidence as well as a treasured memory.

The Talent Show
On the final evening of each stay children participate in a talent show,
often demonstrating some amazing abilities.
The entertainment includes both solo and group performances so that everyone has a chance to participate.
