Food

.
Meals are taken with families, traditional fare like beans and rice, fresh tortillas right of the "comal," the traditional fire and stove.

Try your hand at patting out tortillas by the fire. It's not as easy as it looks! But after a few tries and some instruction from the ladies you'll have them puffing up fluffy and light, ready to pop in your mouth or to store for lunch on the trail.

Cacao, the seeds of chocolate, are a treat The Maya have given to the world. Enjoy a hot drink made from fresh ground roasted beans, a unique rich flavor.Enjoy fresh fruits like bananas and oranges, even mangos in season. Plantains, the relative of the banana served fried. Delicious!
