Transportation.
To the Villages To and From the Toledo District

Transportation in Belize is limited. Buses from Punta Gorda Town to all villages leave 11:30 am - Noon every Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Villages located along or near the Southern Highway have bus service available 7 days a week.

Bus service from the villages back to P.G. is also on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday, with buses leaving from the villages as early as 3 am! This may be the only bus of the the day, although there is often a second bus between 6 and 7 am. Please ask the host of your guest house the night before to make sure you make your bus.

Private transport to villages is available for hire from Punta Gorda and on a limited basis from the villages back to PG. Prices range depending on the size of the vehicle, the cost of the driver and the distance to be traveled. Please email us in advance if you wish to have a vehicle for transport upon your arrival.

It is also possible to rent a jeep or van for personal use. Prices range from $30 to $100 US a day.

Hitch hiking is quite common by the local people. Usually it is in the back of a pick-up truck.
