An Invitation from Kids To The Country
By Mary Ellen Bowen, Program Director

You are cordially invited to join us Saturday, April 20, 2002 for the Kids To The Country Earth Day celebration at the Peace Garden and Compost Site, in the Greenway along I 440 at 10th and Gale Lane in Nashville, Tennessee. The event will run from 1:00 until 3:30 PM with the Kids To The Country reuniting with each other and reconnecting with the earth. Come recognize and support the efforts of the children and the dedicated program staff and celebrate the spirit of spring renewal. Come help put in Plants for Peace or make a donation to go toward KTC’s urban projects scholarship fund.

The Kids To The Country Spring Program consists of turning the giant peace sign compost pile in celebration of the value of our earth and her gift of growing food. In this part of our curriculum program we have the opportunity to reconnect with the children and enable them to see how our human roots depend on the earth. We have games and activities like “Rake Aerobics” and “Recycle Relay” as well as making terrariums out of recycled plastic bottles. All and all it’s a very valuable experience for those of all ages who attend.

For further information please call Mary Ellen at (931) 964-4391 or Sizwe Herring at (615) 252-6953 or send an email message to [email protected].

Also, Kids To The Country is looking for volunteers who want to work with the Summer Program which runs for five week-long sessions in June, July and August.
