KIDS TO THE COUNTRY

The 2004 KTC summer program was another fun-filled success as these photos will attest. KTC is about connecting city kids with Mother Nature, attentive, loving counselors and each other. It’s about making friends with animals, and learning how to settle arguments without coming to blows. And especially it’s about having such a good time that you go home with renewed hope and self-confidence along with your artworks, blueberries and fond memories.

KTC Fall Calendar

October 23rd, 2004

11am - 4pm - Kids To The Country’s Annual Harvest Children’s Village at The Farm in Summertown, TN. Join the Kids, Mothers & Others (old, new and future) for rebuilding connections, community and teachings of our Nature School. Join all in construction of our cardboard ecovillage, ride horses and bikes, explore the openness of nature, trails and forests.

Returning kids will reunite with their Farm family, see the hearty harvest from the KTC garden plots they planted at the Ecovillage Training Center and revisit the cob construction projects they’ve helped with over the years.

Of course we’ll enjoy wonderful vegetarian food prepared by KTC staff members Roberta Kachinsky, Ramona Christopherson, and Claire Marx.

November 6th and 7th, 2004

Join the KTC-Urban Kids in Nashville at the annual "Smashing Pumpkins" kick off of the 13th Annual Leaf Lift contest, organized by Sizwe Herring, KTC Urban Coordinator. Grab a bat, shovel or foot (!) and take your stress out on one of several hundred "rescued" pumpkins and pulverize them for the earth! Youth and adults, can register to be a curbside Leaf Thief.
